## Where steam can help

Steam is most useful where equipment can move slowly and safely across a seam, edge or accessible crevice. It is a physical method, so it does not depend on an insect's susceptibility to a chemical active ingredient.

That advantage also defines its limit: the heat acts where it reaches. A deep frame void, crowded crack or untreated adjoining item remains outside the effect.

## Equipment and technique matter

The temperature shown at the machine is not the same as the exposure received by the target surface. Flow, nozzle design, distance and speed influence the result. Excess pressure can also scatter insects or debris rather than treating the harbourage carefully.

This site does not provide a universal temperature-and-seconds recipe because equipment and surfaces differ. Use manufacturer instructions and a competent treatment plan.

## Protect the property

Moisture and heat can damage wood finishes, laminates, adhesives, paint, electronics and delicate fabrics. Never steam electrical fittings. Test an inconspicuous area where appropriate and avoid saturating materials.

## Integrate rather than improvise

Steam may be combined with vacuuming, containment, authorised residual products, encasements and monitoring. Ask how each component fits the inspection findings. Repeatedly steaming random visible surfaces without checking harbourages can consume time while activity continues elsewhere.
