Our approach
We want everyone to read this site and use its tools. Pages use clear headings, visible keyboard focus and text that you can enlarge. Links describe where they go, and buttons and links have a comfortable minimum size.
Core content works without JavaScript. As a result, you can read every guide even if scripts fail to load. JavaScript only improves the enquiry form.
Images and motion
Informative images have text descriptions for screen reader users. Decorative images have empty descriptions, so screen readers skip them. We label our editorial illustrations as illustrations.
The design uses only gentle transitions. If your device asks for reduced motion, the site respects that setting.
Writing and reading level
We write in plain English with short sentences. Many people are stressed when they search for bed bug help, so clear words matter. In addition, we explain any technical term the first time it appears.
Known limitations
The enquiry form needs JavaScript for its in-page checks and for sending. If sending fails, the form shows an error and keeps what you typed. We cannot promise that every page meets every accessibility standard, and we have not yet had an independent audit.
Testing and improving
We check pages on phones and desktops, and we test with the keyboard alone. Although we aim to fix problems quickly, some may take time. We prefer to say so honestly rather than claim perfection.
Because many readers are anxious, we also keep pages short and well organised. Headings let you jump to the part you need. As a result, screen reader users can skim a page in seconds.
