Six checks before publication
Every guide passes the same six checks. We repeat them when we make a material change. The list below shows what each check means.
- Intent: the page must solve a distinct reader problem rather than repeat another page.
- Evidence: each material claim links to a source that supports it.
- Safety: medical and pesticide advice stays within NHS and HSE limits.
- Clarity: the quick answer makes sense without promotional language.
- Consistency: costs, treatment descriptions and service status never conflict across pages.
- Technical quality: headings, metadata, images, links and mobile layout get tested when we build the site.
We run these checks on every new page and again after any big change. If a page fails one check, we fix it before it goes live. Because the checks are the same each time, readers get a consistent standard.
Why these checks matter
People often read about bed bugs when they feel anxious. As a result, a vague or alarming page can push them towards costly or unsafe choices. Our checks aim to give a calm answer first and the detail second.
The safety check matters most. For example, home sprays and powders can harm people and pets when misused, so we explain the limits in our guide to home bed bug products.
Current review status
Our launch guides have editorial review. They do not yet have a separately named professional pest-controller review. Each page shows this limit, so you can weigh the advice yourself.
When we engage a real reviewer, we will publish their identity, experience and the scope of their review. We will not imply a review that has not happened.
We also keep our wording simple on purpose. Short sentences help tired and worried readers, so we test pages for reading ease. As a result, you should not need a technical background to follow our advice.
Our checks cover images too. We describe each image honestly, and we label illustrations as illustrations. Therefore, you always know whether you are looking at a real photo.
